Tommy Chan
BSc (Hons) MSc FRCPodS
Consultant Podiatric Surgeon
Mr Tommy Chan qualified as a podiatrist in 2009 at the University of Salford and quickly developed a strong interest in surgery for foot and ankle problems. He went on to complete a Master’s degree in podiatric surgery at the University of Huddersfield and began his surgical training with Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals, one of the leading centres for podiatric surgery in the UK. In 2017, he successfully completed his training and was awarded Fellowship with the Royal College of Podiatry.
His training also took him overseas to Europe and Asia, where he learned advanced surgical skills and techniques. Over the years, he has built specialist expertise in minimally invasive surgery (using small cuts for quicker recovery) and limb salvage surgery (helping patients at risk of losing a foot due to severe conditions such as diabetes). In 2021, he completed his surgical training in full and became a Consultant Podiatric Surgeon.
Alongside his NHS work, Tommy plays an active role in training and teaching future surgeons. He has been elected to national committees, teaches on Master’s programmes at the University of Huddersfield, and is a registered surgical tutor with the Royal College of Podiatry. Today, Tommy runs a busy surgical practice covering all areas of the foot and ankle. He specialises in minimally invasive surgery and is dedicated to improving his techniques through research and reflective practice. He currently holds consultant posts in both Doncaster Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals and Derbyshire Community Health Services.
